A really cheesy 5km Pizza Run is coming to London

If you’re partial to the golden, cheesy goodness that is pizza, then this unusual pizza run in London will guarantee that you get a slice of the action. “But what’s a pizza run?” we hear you ask. Well, it’s in fact exactly as it suggests. With an admission fee of £20, competitors will race 5km across central London but instead of chugging water while you run, you’ll nosh down on pizza!

Not only that but fancy dress is highly encouraged so get your best pizza-themed costumes in gear. At the end of the race, you’ll get a pizza-themed medal and winners will also receive prizes which presumably is pizza-related. There will be a cheesy afterparty too.

“Myself, Mohamad and Ben are three friends who had been discussing the potential of putting on a running event with a difference that may serve to bring local communities together and encourage those less confident, who might otherwise be daunted by the prospect of entering a running event, to take on the challenge of running a fun 5K running event without the pressures often associated with more serious running events” Rob, one of the organisers told Lonely Planet.

“With Pizza Run UK, we wanted to send a message that getting fit and healthy doesn’t mean giving up everything that you enjoy or forever quitting your favourite treats, that it is possible to find a balance that allows for both” he added.

“We aim to encourage and engage people by offering a running event with a twist, bringing communities together and showing that not only can you still enjoy your favourite foods with a balanced lifestyle, but that you can also have fun with your running.”

The race takes place on 20 May, 2018 so you have plenty of time to practice running with those pizza slices! Find out more here.
