Lima at Leisure and Adventures Into the Andes

Overview
Now that you’ve already seen some of Lima, you’ll have this morning to relax and continue to explore the city at your own pace. After a delicious breakfast, stroll along the scenic Malecón, visit a local café, or immerse yourself in the city's vibrant atmosphere in any way you please. You can also dive deeper into Lima’s rich history and culture on an optional guided city tour with a local expert guide. Should you choose this option, you’ll explore Barranco's art culture and liveliest neighborhoods. Then, it’s time to say your goodbyes to Lima — and head into the Andes. Meet your driver at your hotel for a transfer to the airport, where you’ll board a short flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival in this “White City" — where volcanic landscapes abound — you’ll meet your driver for a transfer to your hotel. Once you check in, let Arequipa’s charming architecture and pleasant climate ease you into this next chapter of your journey. You'll have the rest of the evening free, so you can enjoy a leisurely dinner in town, tasting traditional Peruvian fare. (Breakfast)
Highlights
The Historical Center of Arequipa
Just like Lima, the historical center of Arequipa — recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site — shares its rich cultural heritage through its architecture. As you arrive here today, get lost in the city's charming streets amid beloved icons like the Plaza de Armas, where the majestic Cathedral of Arequipa proudly stands. Or, explore the serene Santa Catalina Convent, a 16th-century monastery that feels like a city within a city.
Arequipa’s Culinary Scene
As the gastronomic capital of Peru, Arequipa offers a delightful array of flavors and dishes unique to the region. As you head out for dinner tonight, you'll have your pick picanterías. These traditional restaurants serve hearty, flavorful dishes such as rocoto relleno — stuffed spicy peppers — and adobo arequipeño, marinated pork. Don't discount the bustling food markets, either, where you can enjoy fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and local delicacies that truly capture the essence of Arequipa’s culinary heritage.
Lima City Tour (optional)
Channel your inner artist during your tour of Barranco, Lima’s funky and eclectic arts neighborhood. Should you opt in to this tour, you’ll follow an expert local guide through this bohemian neighborhood, whose hippie culture materializes in one-of-a-kind boutiques, cool cafes, and colorful street murals that render the whole neighborhood its own form of gallery.
