The new museum will open up after there was “unprecedented demand” at the other two locations – likely thanks to the swarms of adults who wanted to indulge their love of ice cream and fill up their Instagram feeds with the candy-coloured playground. This latest venture will open its doors on 17 September at 1 Grant Avenue.
The Museum of Ice Cream features immersive installations and interactive elements like “a magical candy garden, psychedelic rainbow unicorns, a push pop installation, a cherry on top sky, the renowned Sprinkle Pool and new tastings, including an original Museum of Ice Cream flavour”.
The San Francisco museum will be located in a historic site, an old bank near Union Square. The 108-year-old building will see modern installations created around historic structures that have long been hidden from the public view.
Naturally, there will also be plenty of ice cream there for eating, with some of California’s best creameries represented. Tickets for the museum will go on sale on 25 August at 9 am PT on the official website. The tickets costs $38 and are only available in advance online, but that will include half a dozen tastings and edible treats.
