A new resort has opened in Texas Hill Country that gives guests the opportunity to stay in stylish, rustic cabins set on 60 acres of unspoilt land.
Located an hour from Austin and San Antonio, Getaway Hill Country’s latest site has been designed with escape in mind. Visitors are encouraged to lock away their phones and reconnect with nature, cook over an open fire and even bring their dogs along. With “outposts” in Atlanta, Boston, New York, Portland and Los Angeles, their company’s latest offering in Texas features 32 two-person cabins with queen beds and eight four-person cabins with queen bunks. This new location makes it the company’s tenth outpost across the United States.
“Our guests can expect a tiny cabin with a comfy bed, heat and AC, a personal fire pit with outdoor seating, a hot shower, and more. Beyond that - fresh air, uninterrupted sleep, meals over a campfire, meaningful conversations with loved ones, and other memorable moments we tend to overlook in our day-to-day. It's amazing what we can do when we put our devices away and enjoy our surroundings,” a spokesperson for Getaway told Lonely Planet.
The cabins are available year round, and come with AM/FM radios and wireless speakers. Each one is named after grandparents of the company’s staff and guests, and have a mini kitchen with sinks (and drinkable water), a mini refrigerator, stove, salt, pepper and olive oil. If guests feel like cooking up a meal for themselves, they can avail of provisions like coffee, oatmeal, pasta sauce, jerky and Swedish fish, and are charged after their stay only for what they have used. Cabins are secured with a digital code, making check-in and check-out seamless.
“The reaction from our guests has been huge. What started as a dozen cabins outside of New York has turned into ten outposts across the country with over 300 cabins. Guests love the experience and keep returning; we hear that it feels like a small, simple gift they can give to themselves, or to each other.”
