If you’ve already sampled currywurst in Berlin and eaten your fill of bratwurst at Oktoberfest, it may be time to consider spending a night in Germany’s sausage-themed hotel.
Wursthotel in Rittersbach, Germany is covered from top to bottom in a bratwurst motif that will delight anyone with an appreciation for the famous German dish. The decor includes sausage wallpaper, sausage-shaped pillows, meat hanging from the walls, and plenty more.
The hotel is the work of Claus Böbel, a fourth-generation butcher, who is also running what he has called the world’s only sausage hotel next door to the family’s butcher shop. According to the brochure, the B&B includes seven rooms with a bratwurst-theme, a sausage-focused breakfast and a Bratwurst(aurant) - a restaurant which centres on, of course, sausage. Should you be looking for a spot to hold your next team meeting, there is also a business meeting room.
Böbel makes Franconian bratwurst, which is made with minced pork meat and a natural skin layer of pork intestine. It is made fresh every day according to an old family recipe. They also make an incredible variety of flavoured brats, including hazelnut, beer, coffee, cheese, chocolate, wild garlic and many more. If you want to tell your friends what a great time you’re having during your stay, each room will get a smoked bratwurst heart and card that you can fill out and they will send it out on your behalf.
This is not the only offering from Böbel for anyone who enjoys German sausage, his website also advertises sausage-making courses and lectures. Find out more here.
