Visitors from Europe, the US and Australia will be flocking to attend a sold-out festival for cat-lovers in London next month. CatFest 2018 is taking place at The Oval on 14 July, and according to one of the organisers, Britt Collins, it’ll be a “stylish and entertaining event, where cat-mad people can meet other cat-mad people while helping rescue cats and promoting veganism.”
Those attending the festival can enjoy buzz-worthy and hard-to-find cat products and accessories, along with stylish cat-related books, art, cocktails and vegan street. Festival-goers can connect with feline experts and other cat lovers, see cat videos and films, and listen to talks from animal advocates and bestselling writers, including Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson (The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats) and Gwen Cooper (Homer’s Odyssey).
If so inclined, attendees can come dressed in fancy dress and can meet feline Instagram superstars. Festival-goers can get pampered at the Glamour Puss beauty bar, and can play cat bingo or get a tarot card reading from London psychic, Jacqui Cosham, aka Mystic Mog.
There is an altruistic element to the festival as there’s an onsite adoption lounge called the Meow Parlour, which aims to raise awareness about welfare efforts and help cats in need. A portion of the festival ticket price will go to animal charities, and additional funds from raffles and competitions will go towards helping Moroccan street cats.
Catfest runs from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 14 July at Oval Space in London. Further information is available here.
