Turkey is seeking a traveller proficient with social media for what sounds like a dream job. The successful candidate will spend the month of August visiting and documenting places of note in the Ortaca, Dalyan and Sarigerme areas of Muğla, and will receive a fee of 30,000 Turkish lira (€5368/€6315) on top of enjoying free accommodation, food and beverages.
The Ortaca district is home to Dalyan, which is known for its 2500-year-old rock tombs, and the 3000-year-old ancient city of Kaunos. The successful candidate will get to check out all the visitor-worthy locations, as well as hotels, restaurants, bars and many other historic and interesting places. Activities they will enjoy include rafting in Dalaman, land and cruise trips to Iztuzu, exploring Sulungur and Koycegiz lakes, visiting Asi cove, diving in Dalyan, enjoying a mud bath and trips to organic and pomegranate gardens.
The successful candidate must be able to use social media and take photographs and make videos and will be required to share their experiences, observations and stories on the Ortaca municipality’s social media. He or she must be experienced in travelling, hold a driver’s licence and have strong communication skills. While applications from abroad are welcomed, applicants must not have any issues with their visa and must be able to speak, read and write in English. Those with a criminal record are prohibited from applying.
Ortaca mayor, Hasan Karaçelik, will select the successful candidate on July 18 along with an experienced jury. “We are helping you to earn money by having fun, travel and gain experiences,” they say. Applications close on 14 July, and they can be made on the website here.
