Struggling to find the perfect restaurant during your vacation can be a major travel frustration – and getting a reservation can make things even more difficult. But Airbnb users will have a new advantage at restaurants across the US, as they can now snag a table using the app.
Airbnb has partnered with Resy to help travellers book tables at nearly 650 curated restaurants across the US. The company says that guests can now “find a table at celebrated restaurants like Petit Crenn in San Francisco, Kismet in Los Angeles, Bateau in Seattle, or Thip Khao in Washington, D.C. without leaving the Airbnb app”.
The new feature is designed to solve a problem that many people run into while on the road, trying to find the right place to eat in an unknown city. While many want to book a table online, a lot of restaurants still require a phone call. There can be additional barriers for international travellers, who may not know how local reservation sites work or be able to translate them into their own language.
Using a dedicated restaurants tab on the Airbnb website and app, guests can search by cuisine, time of day or map to find a restaurant they would like, and then book their table. Airbnb says it is working on translations “so cross-language travellers won’t have to worry about navigating a foreign booking site”.
If you’re a stickler for quality, the restaurants are curated and chosen by Resy for their quality, and include “local favorites, award winners and international destinations”. The service is now available in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Miami, Charleston, Austin, Seattle, Denver, Portland, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Nashville, with plans to expand internationally.
