Planning a family road trip? You can buy the iconic car from National Lampoon’s Vacation

As iconic movie cars go, the Griswold’s obnoxious green station wagon with wood panelling from National Lampoon’s Vacation has without a doubt cruised its way into the top ten. The instantly recognisable “Wagon Queen Family Truckster” proved a huge hit with fans of the 1983 comedy about a family trip to an amusement park gone awry.

Well the good news for anyone that may be planning their own trip to Walley World is that the famous car is now available to buy for $40,000.

The 1979 Ford LTD is listed on Hemmings, an online car collector marketplace that states it is for sale in Carlyle Motors in Houston, Texas. The post suggests that the car may in fact be one of the five originals used during production of the movie, although no documentation exists to prove it.

The car even comes complete with vintage luggage for the roof, a dog leash and a Walley World bumper sticker. The listing says that the paint is in average shape and, “there are multiple dings, dents and blemishes….The car has been so distastefully done, you will simply love it and turn heads everywhere you go”.
