Nearly a month after the Czech Republic eased lockdown limitations for its citizens, a large number of people assembled on Prague's iconic Charles Bridge, for a symbolic “farewell party" to celebrate their renewed freedom incredibly.

The Czech Republic was amongst the first countries to go into a lockdown when cases of coronavirus were reported.

The dinner party, organised by a café owner, was held to mark what he believes is the end of COVID-19 disruption in the city. While the celebratory dinner was free to attend, a limit of 2000 guests was asked to register via the online ticketing platform. This was to help the organisers manage the crowd size. Registered guests were provided with stickers and invited to sit at the lengthy 500-meter-long table across the medieval Charles Bridge, which was still accessible to other pedestrians. Diners brought food and beverages from home and shared on the table and interacted happily. Musicians and entertainers set up a show for the people who were attending the celebratory occasion.

Despite lingering genuine concerns over the coronavirus crisis, most were more than happy to do so. Past the finishing time in the evening, leftovers were still available down the table to be consumed by passers-by.

The Czech Republic has so far been able to fight COVID-19 pandemic fairly well and is amongst the least affected countries in Europe. The Czech Republic is already open to visitors from European countries, segregating the countries among green, orange, and red zones.

Travellers from green zones need not go for quarantine or show any Covid-19 negative results. The incoming tourists from the orange and red zones should either be carrying recently acquired COVID-19 negative results or undergo the test while entering the country.
