If 70s bellbottoms or 90s denim jackets line your wardrobe, then Spark Pretty in the East Village will be a perfect stop on a New York City shopping trip. The store will house vintage finds mainly from between the 60s and 90s, “bringing New Yorkers a treasure trove of rare and one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from apparel to toys at price points from $2-$1200.”
The shop is run by stylist and artist Amanda Dolan and her business partner, Meagan Colby. Dolan has long collected vintage clothes and accessories and after she began selling items online, found out just how much demand there was around the world. The pair began exhibiting at the Manhattan Vintage Show, and Vogue even named them as one of the must-shop vendors.
The hard-to-find vintage pieces they’ve collected have led them to supply wardrobe for the Upcoming Broadway Show “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion,” TV’s “The Goldbergs,” the Netflix series “Glow”. Even their vintage MTV fanny pack will be included in the MoMA’s upcoming exhibit “Items: Is Fashion Modern?”
“After seeing the strong response to our two previous pop-up shops, we knew we were on to something special,” said Dolan in a statement. “What we’re offering with Spark Pretty is an immersive shopping experience. A colorful, fun and enticing atmosphere that, regardless of the economy, will make people feel welcome. It’s a different and fresh alternative to what’s currently available to consumers.”
If you want to shop – or just relive your childhood complete with Lisa Frank jackets and Christina Applegate posters – Spark Pretty is located at 333 East 9th Street, between 1st and 2nd.
