Dubai is to open its first underwater water villa which will be located amongst the group of islands called the Heat of Europe, 4km off the coast of Dubai.
Each villa will be made up of three tiers, one below the water, one above and a top deck. The master bedroom and bathroom will be part of the submerged section, and the villas will also feature a glass-bottomed jacuzzi.
But aside from the obvious draws for these luxury retreats, they will also serve a purpose for conservation. Artificial coral reefs will be built underneath each structure to create a safe place where endangered seahorses can live and breed – thus the project has been aptly titled ‘The Floating Seahorse’.
