One Australian couple decided to take a light-hearted view of their cruise being cancelled, after the World Health Organization formally declared the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak a global pandemic.

Cruises were cancelled after countries closed their borders and imposed lockdowns and travel bans. In spite of this, Norma and Dave Trill from Melbourne made a funny video after the ten-day cruise they were booked on to celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary got cancelled. Their daughter, Jane Trill, posted a video online of the 74-year-old couple sitting in deck chairs in front of their TV, watching a YouTube video of the ocean called “Ocean View, Cruise Ship Balcony.”

With their feet up on the TV stand, and wearing white robes, sunhats and sunglasses, they clinked glasses and gazed at the sea on their screen. “Cruise cancelled? No problem,” Jane captioned the video, which even features a classic cruise airhorn blare. The video has now gone viral, and those who can't wait for the next instalment won't have long to wait as the fun-loving couple want to make a sequel.

“We are looking to update the video clip,” said Dave in an interview with Cruise Passenger. “The video will simulate a beach in Thailand, so it will be a beachy scene. I will probably wear a Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, a straw hat, a pair of binoculars and sip a Pina Colada. Norma hasn’t decided what she will wear yet. We are looking at various props and may even consider donning some goggles and swimming underwater. We just want to do it. It will be fun and great to create something funny given all the gloom around.”
