Celebrate 30 years of Dirty Dancing at the lodge where it was filmed
If you want to revel in nostalgia and have the time of your life, it’s time to start planning a trip to the Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dirty Dancing.
It’s been three decades since the release of the classic romance and the famous filming location for the summer-love film will be hosting special weekends to celebrate the anniversary.
This isn’t the first time these events have happened, but they are back for four weekends this year with special anniversary celebrations at the lodge, which is located the Blue Ridge Mountains at the center of a 2,600-acre nature preserve.
During the weekends, fans will take part in events like a film location tour, a movie screening, a scavenger hunt and a lot of dancing. The weekends will end with a big professional dance performance on Saturday evening - perfect for anyone better at enjoying the dancing more than actually doing it.
“We are so excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘Dirty Dancing’ with our guests who love the movie as much as we do,” said Heidi Stone, general manager of Mountain Lake Lodge in a statement. “We could not be more proud to be a part of this beloved film’s history, and we are looking forward to sharing with guests where Baby and the rest of the Houseman family stayed, danced and loved in our beautiful resort.”
The resort has also been undergoing upgrades in recent years, with restored cabins and new technology. There’s a new beach volleyball court and the Sky Slide, the tallest inflatable slide in the world.
The four themed-weekends will be held 23 to 25 June, 28 to 30 July, 25 to 27 August and 15 to 17 September.
