Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski is opening up a restaurant in New York

If you’ve watched any episode of Netflix’s Queer Eye, you’ll know that food expert Antoni Porowski is all about good food made simple. So simple, in fact, that it’s led some viewers to question whether he can truly cook at all.

But it seems we can all soon find out for ourselves, as the Canadian-born and Brooklyn-dwelling chef has announced plans to open up a fast-casual restaurant in New York City. As the new Fab Five have turned into an undeniable phenomenon, it’s unsurprising that we’re going to be seeing a lot more of them all. Antoni has already announced an upcoming cookbook that will hopefully give us even more insight into his relaxed skill of cooking.

Antoni dropped the details of his new project in an interview with 92nd Street Y – a non-profit community and cultural centre. While he admits he wasn’t supposed to be talking about the project, he eventually revealed his current plants for the restaurant. “I’m all about cheese and pork belly and the decadence of food, but also sort-of, with the increased vanity of being on camera all the time and working out and eating healthy, I’ve designed a fast-casual food concept restaurant here in New York.”

Perhaps it’s time for everyone to stop doubting Antoni’s abilities, as there is no doubt that he has experience in the food industry. He explained in the interview that he has worked as a busboy, waiter, manager and sommelier, so he certainly knows his way around a restaurant.

It remains to be seen how avocados will play into to the menu, but there’s no doubt that there will be a long line of hungry – and thirsty – Antoni fans who are ready to find out.
