You've a higher chance of falling in love if you fly from these airports

Much of what we do in the airport is mundane, from taking our shoes and belts off to go through security to buying another bottle of water to replace the one we had to leave behind because it was over 100ml, but it turns out that many of us are using the time spent in European airports to actively kick off our holiday romances.

According to Happn, the dating app that shows you the users you’ve physically crossed paths with during the day, there are some airports where developing a crush has a higher chance of happening.

The people behind the app claim that holidaymakers are no longer waiting until they reach their destination to strike up a holiday romance. According to their data, Amsterdam Schipol recorded the highest number of mutual ‘crushes’ made through Happn in European airports in the month of July, followed closely by Istanbul Ataturk and London Heathrow.

This means that users of the service in these airports were checking out the cute guys and gals they spotted browsing duty-free or trying to stuff their carry-ons into the overhead bin six rows ahead, and “hearting” them on the app to indicate interest.

Happn uses GPS to give you a timeline of every user you’ve physically crossed paths with throughout your day, and reveals the time you’ve been around them. You’re only matched up if you both independently “heart” each other, but you can also send the other person a “charm,” which is a push notification with a guaranteed delivery that costs between 10 and 20 cents.

So if you’re dashing through the airport with no time to stop and chat up the person of your dreams that you’ve spotted, you can see if they’re on the app and get a second opportunity to make that love connection at a later date. With any luck, you will soon be embarking on your very own romantic journey.
