As well as featuring attractive photographs of rustic retreats, the book shares inspiring stories from people that have built their own cabins, and even provides detailed information on construction methods and architecture for those looking to create a place of their own. Cabin Porn initially began as an online project created by a group of friends to inspire their own home building. The website quickly became popular, with thousands of people submitting photographs of their own builds and favourite cabins from all over the world.

Over 200 photos and ten special stories have been collected and included in the beautiful book which is now available in hardback and softback editions by Penguin Books. It features unique builds like a tree house built high off the ground in a forest in Sandpoint, Idaho, a geometric cabin jutting out from the landscape at a unique angle in Oberwiesenthal, Germany and a boathouse that looks as if it is floating on a stunning crystal clear lake in Bavaria.

The book was organised by Zach Klein, co-founder of Vimeo, along with Steven Leckart, a correspondent at Wired Magazine and Noah Kalina, a photographer living in New York. The reaction to the book has been impressive, showing the draw that nature has on travellers dreaming of a cosy retreat of their own.
