Utah's new pet-friendly hotel will help support an animal sanctuary
If you like to travel with your best furry friend, you will be able to stay at a new pet-friendly hotel in Utah that will help to support an animal sanctuary.
Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile will open in Kanab to travellers and their pets on 15 August, 2019. The hotel will have 30 regular rooms, eight suites and two two-level suites, while the Mercantile will house reception, a common area space for guests, a complimentary vegan continental breakfast bar and retail options. It will support the educational and outreach efforts of Best Friends Animal Society and the 3000-acre Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
Pet-friendly features at the hotel include guest rooms outfitted with special fabrics and materials, a two-door entry system that ensures the pet will not slip out, room furnishings built 18 inches or higher to avoid pet entrapment or accidents and nooks for sleeping, featuring a pet mattress. There are communal complimentary pet-washing stations and a fenced-in park with a water feature, and the hotel offers pet-walking services and sitting, upon arrangement.
Designed by Wow Atelier of Salt Lake City, the new hotel is owned and operated by Best Friends Animal Society, a national animal welfare organisation dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters by 2025. It will provide complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the organisation’s nearby animal sanctuary, as well as organised Best Friends member activities, including volunteer opportunities and pet sleepovers.
