A new seven-day Game of Thrones-themed cruise will explore the popular HBO series’s filming locations in Croatia, and a lucky competition-winner win a free place for themselves and three friends.
The Game of Thrones tour will include Qarth, Braavos and even King’s Landing itself, and only 38 spaces are available on the journey, which will set sail on 8 August, 2020. Launched by Cruise Croatia, guests will receive a special Game of Thrones welcome pack on arrival, guided tours of Croatia’s filming locations in both Split and Dubrovnik by the country’s top Game of Thrones expert, and a farewell party in King’s Landing on the final night of the cruise.
The prize trip will see the winner and friends embark on this one-time-only cruise on a luxury yacht with breakfast and lunch included daily. It also includes return international flights, day excursions to stunning Croatian sites and a bike tour of Mljet National Park. Filming locations visited include Klis Fortress, which was used to film Daenerys’s conquering of Meereen, Diocletian’s Palace where the dragons are locked away for a brief period.
It also visits St. Dominika Street in Dubrovnik, part of the Unesco-listed Old Town where Queen Cersei was forced to walk naked as part of her Walk of Atonement. The tour will also visit Lovrijenac Fortress, which was used to feature the tournament to honour King Joffrey’s name day, the Pile Gate which was used as Blackwater Bay in season three, and Mineeta Tower – otherwise known as the House of the Undying.
The cruise travels through many of Croatia’s natural wonders, including Krka National Park and waterfalls, the blue cave near Vis Island, the island of Hvar, and the historic island of Korcula – the famed birthplace of Marco Polo. It will also visit Ston and the Trsteno Arboretum, used in the series as the King’s Landing gardens.
