Ice cream has long believed to have originated in Italy or North Africa, but new research suggests that Marco Polo may have brought it back from his travels in China.

French ‘ice cream master’ Gerard Taurin researched the history of ice cream and discovered mention of frozen rice and milk as a popular dessert in ancient Chinese documents. Though unconfirmed, Taurin suspects that the substance was brought to Europe by Marco Polo in the 13th century. Read more: chinadaily.com.cn
