Airport food has just been stepped up a notch with the news that you can now get a food delivery from Deliveroo to your boarding gate at Dubai International airport. Named DeliverooDXB, the initiative enables time-crunched passengers to get freshly-prepared food from the airport’s food and beverage outlets delivered straight to their boarding gates by the popular food delivery service.
We imagine this will be a game-changer for those rushing through security and shopping outlets with no time to stop for a snack, and it will be particularly appealing to those whose flights are delayed or have time to kill. Passengers simply place an order on Deliveroo’s website, or via the quick link on the airport’s free high-speed Wi-Fi service known as Wow-Fi. The service is currently available for passengers in DXB Terminal 3, A-Gates, with over ten participating outlets, including Costa, Giraffe, Café Chocolate, Picnic, Paul Bakery & Restaurant, Pulp Juice, Carluccio’s, Le Pain Quotidien and McDonald’s.
After six months, Dubai Airports will look to roll-out the service across further outlets and concourses at DXB. “Joining forces with Dubai Airports is a strategic next step for us as we continue to revolutionise the way people order restaurant food,” says Anis Harb, general manager of Deliveroo GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). “With our riders now delivering to the gate, there is no reason to miss breakfast, lunch or dinner even when passengers may only have minutes to spare before boarding.”
Deliveroo operates in over 150 cities across 12 countries, and following the launch of the programme in Dubai, it will now look to bring the service to other international hubs around the world.
