A technology start-up has launched an innovative new service that allows travellers to check-luggage in from their own doorstep at any address in London before having it delivered to the airport and stowed.
Launched in partnership with British Airways, AirPortr offers the doorstep check-in-service to any customers flying with the airline, enabling travellers to book a one-hour-slot for pickup as well as passport and boarding pass verification. Luggage is X-rayed, sealed and placed in a tamper-aware bag to ensure safety before going through additional screening prior to arrival at the airport, where it is checked-in by AirPortr.
All luggage is tracked throughout the process and can be monitored using a smartphone. The company also provides a pickup and delivery service that enables users to have their luggage picked up ahead of time and dropped to London Heathrow, London Gatwick or London City Airport where it can be collected before flying.
The company also offers an inbound service where customers can drop their bags off with AirPortr upon arrival in London, and have it delivered to a house, hotel or office later that day. Prices start from £20 for airport addresses and local hotels, with the service costing £30 for inner London locations, and £40 for outer London. Each additional bag costs £10, with no size or weight restrictions. More information on the service is available from the AirPortr website.
