In Lermoos, Tyrol, set amidst the breath-taking mountains of west Austria is Mohr Life Resort, a hotel and wellness retreat that offers incredible, unspoilt views of the surrounding valleys, no matter what the season. It’s just unveiled a stylish new spa built on a slope that is made of sleek cement with a modern glass front.
Designed as a top relaxation destination, the resort features a number of different facets, including a hotel with restaurants and cafés. The building has housed a hotel for over 200 years and boasts a museum that tells the story of its history, as well as an adjoining manor house and a 250-year old chapel. It offers 18 different room categories, from double rooms to the “007” and “Fire” Suites to the Penthouse Adlerhorst. The hotel also offers panoramic views to the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest peak.
Recently, the resort revealed a brand new spa, designed by noa* architects, built on a gentle decline below the hotel. It features a unique view across the Ehrwalder Becken Valley, which is lined with old farmhouses and barns. The new wellness area stretches out across 600 sq metres and features an outdoor area with a swimming pool. The spa’s relaxation area was designed to look like a theatre stage, with the Zugspitze being the main focus.
“The Zugspitze – its beauty and strength - was our inspiration and the project’s protagonist. The new wellness area is an ideal location to admire that extraordinary masterpiece. Guests are cocooned in a relaxing place which harmonises with the environment. Our challenge is to create structures which expand and intensify the perception of spaces, creating restorative areas which stir new emotions in visitors,’ Architect Christian Rottensteiner, Partner at noa* told Lonely Planet.
Guests can get massages, body and beauty treatments as well as taking part in wellness programmes. The resort offers many activities, including golf, hiking, fishing and horse riding in the summer and skiing, ice-skating and tobogganing in the winter.
