Knowing that a 2016 survey by the American Pet Products Association indicated that 37% of dog owners have considered skipping a holiday rather than leave their pet behind, VacationRenter decided to do some research of its own. It found that “pet-friendly” is the second most searched rental amenity among travellers, and some cities have almost half of their vacation rentals offering pet-friendly accommodation.

It looked at cities with a minimum of 1000 property listings, and found that Palm Springs in California is the most pet-friendly destination as 43% of its rental properties allow people to bring their pets. Located 100 miles east of Los Angeles and home to the Coachella festival, it also makes a fantastic base for taking your dog to explore outdoors.
