Chef Pedro Siqueira made waves in 2015 with the opening of his excellent restaurant Puro in Jardim Botânico. Building on that success, Siqueira opened Massa in 2016, offering inventive pasta dishes and other modern Italian-inspired dishes. Considering the location (Rua Dias Ferreira is home to many of Rio’s most expensive restaurants) the prices are reasonable – especially the set-menu lunch deal.

Massa takes as much care with its drinks as it does with the food. There's a good selection of wines, some locally brewed beers and, especially popular during the heat of summer, a thirst-quenching range of variations on the classic gin-and-tonic cocktail.
