Hotel Patria

High Tatras

Angular Hotel Patria resembles something halfway between a super-villain's forest hideout and a 1970s holiday retreat. We like it all the same, largely thanks to its location on Štrbské Pleso's northeastern edge. Rooms are more modern than the exterior suggests, with quality mattresses and bright bathrooms; a room with a lake-view balcony is money well spent (about €20 extra).

There is a view-laden wellness centre with outdoor sauna huts, hot tubs and an indoor pool, plus its excellent restaurant Koliba Patria is only a short lakeside stroll away.

Room rates drop outside high season.
