With travellers thinking about the best way to indulge their wanderlust while staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are looking to glamping. England has announced that it aims to open campsites in July, though the rest of the UK will likely wait longer before reopening. If you want to start dreaming of a staycation in England, online booking channel, Glampingly, has revealed its new UK travel finds for 2020.
Choo Choo Moo
Choo Choo Moo consists of two restored railway carriages on a working farm in East Anglia’s Waveney Valley. The carriages are named Victoria and Edward and they sleep two people, offering fully-equipped, off-grid, dog-friendly glamping. Each is self-contained with its own toilet and shower room, kitchenette and sofa bed, with a large deck outside overlooking the fields. You can stroll cross wildflower meadows and fields of crops to a hub of cottage industries, including a brewery, distillery and artisan ice cream makers.
Exe Valley Glamping
Exe Valley Glamping is located in the village of Bickleigh almost midway between the beaches of Devon’s southern and northern coastlines. The eco-friendly, family-orientated safari lodges are set in a grassy glamping meadow, and are tastefully decorated and designed with the environment in mind. Each lodge has three bedrooms and are off-grid with solar energy for lighting and power for the fridge. Guests can enjoy campfires, stars and board games, and there’s a selection of craft shops, a tearoom, riverside walks, a railway museum and a pub in Bickleigh.
Bedford MJ Truck
Guests can enjoy valley views out to the Jurassic Coast from this vintage army lorry located at the top of the 12-acre Brig’s Farm in west Dorset. The ex-military Bedford MJ truck has been quirkily converted into a cosy hideaway for two people. It is completely insulated with local sheeps' wool and a wood-burning stove and it has solar-powered lighting. It comprises a living and kitchen area and a bedroom, and there is a fire pit outside the lorry. It is situated at the top of a field with stunning views of the sea and opposite valley.
Hadlow Hideaways Glamping
Hadlow Hideaways Glamping is an eco-site with bell tents and hot tubs that combines classic camping traditions with modern luxuries. Situated on the edge of a private wood in East Sussex, the tents offer campfires, gas stoves and fold-out camping chairs, while also having its own kitchen shack, en-suite toilet, shower room and a wood-burning stove. There are five tents in total, two of which are larger ‘emperor’ tents that can sleep up to six people. The owners have a drift of pigs and a clutch of chickens, and small people can help feed the animals and collects the eggs.
