Fans of a certain young wizard may be spellbound by the new 'Harry Potter At Home' initiative, launched by author J.K. Rowling and her Wizarding World partners to help those confined to home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wizards and muggles alike should enjoy this hub of information and activities for parents, children and carers, where the magic of Harry Potter can be explored from home. The hub will contain a wealth of creative and craft activities to keep children occupied, including special activity kits from Bloomsbury to Scholastic, magical craft videos, and fun articles, quizzes and puzzles.
There will also be a weekly email newsletter bringing fresh ideas into inboxes each Friday. In addition, the audiobook of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone can be streamed for free via the Audible Stories platform during April, while the eBook and audiobook can be borrowed free in over 20 different languages worldwide via the OverDrive library services.
J.K. Rowling and her team have already announced a special, open licence for teachers to read the seven Harry Potter books aloud to their pupils in virtual read-a-long sessions on video. This means they will be able to record themselves reading Harry’s Hogwarts adventures and share them with their pupils online.
