Saturday, 2 March, is the 50th anniversary of the Concorde's inaugural flight from Toulouse, France.

The supersonic passenger jet operated commercially from 1976 to 2003, often cutting longhaul flight times in half. Although popular, after a devastating crash in 2000 and the after-effects of 9/11, Air France and British Airways made the simultaneous decision to retire the aircraft. Today, retired models are on display at museums around the world.
