The Odd Couple

Top choice in French Concession

Enter this Xintiandi speakeasy via a wall of rainbow LED lights and an enormous Pac-Man screen at the top of the stairs. Inside it's an intimate, thin rectangular space with red lighting, small tables, standing space and a little smoking balcony. The concept comes from two esteemed bartenders, Tokyo's Shingo Gokan and New York's Steve Schneider. Throwback classic cocktails are mixed to perfection.

Choose the ’80s-style woo woos, Alabama slammers and Long Island ice teas, or one of the half a dozen signature drinks from each mixologist. The 'Speak Loud' with rum, sherry, bubble tea and matcha from Gokan, and the 'Hello McFly' with mezcal, pink peppercorn and chilly tincture from Schneider are good places to start.
