Run by a friendly, well-travelled couple from South Africa and Scotland, the Place offers four stylish modern rooms, trimmed with artwork and set with all the mod cons (high-quality mattresses, marble-filled bathrooms). The best have striking views over the Alentejan countryside. Mitch and Vicki make guests feel right at home, and have a wealth of knowledge on the region.
Even if you don't stay for the night, it's well worth stopping in the restaurant, for a meal or a drink on the terrace with its magnificent views.
