Mutiara Taman Negara Resort

Top choice in Pahang & Tioman Island

Conveniently located right at park headquarters, this eco-minded resort spreads over a large area of riverfront property. There are simple dorm rooms that sleep eight and come with air con; a small bungalow and 'chalet' cabins with dramatic lighting, rustic roofs and gorgeously modern showers; plus a grassy camping area with its own kitchen section.

The best part is you're in the park proper – with right-out-your-door access to afternoon hikes. That said, if you want to get across to town for dinner (the food here is great but pricey), you'll need to shell out the RM1 fee for the crossing. As you walk up the steps to the resort, note the marker indicating the high water line during the floods of January 1971.
