Universally known as the Cardboard Cathedral due to the 98 cardboard tubes used in its construction, Christchurch's Transitional Cathedral (cardboardcathedral.org.nz) is an interesting structure currently serving as the city's temporary Anglican cathedral. Designed by Japanese "disaster architect" Shigeru Ban, the entire building was constructed in 11 months and opened in 2013. The building has excellent acoustics and is often used as a concert venue.
