North America just got its first completely indoor ski slope, a chance to turn “every day into a snow day”.
Big SNOW opened at the end of last year and is located within the American Dream mega-mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and consists of four acres of slopes open to both skiers and snowboarders to enjoy all year long.
The almost 180,000 square feet structure is able to host 500 people at the same time and it’s kept at a constant temperature of 28° F. It features slopes from a 3% grade to a 26% grade so that everyone can find something that suits them - from complete beginners to Olympic athletes.

There’s the possibility of booking a skiing or snowboarding lesson adapted to every age for those that want to learn, as well as freestyle terrain and sledding runs for those than don’t feel like strapping their feet onto a board. Big SNOW also includes four lifts, two of which are Magic Carpets thought specifically with beginners in mind.
“Big SNOW is a game-changer for skiing and snowboarding in the United States,” said Hugh Reynolds, vice president of marketing and sales for SNOW Operating, in a statement. “Our goal is to introduce more than a quarter-million new skiers and snowboarders to the sports in the next year”.
