Animal rights group PETA has put together a list of the ten most vegan-friendly cities in the United States, looking at everything from meals to clothing options. Can you guess what cities made it into the list?

Veganism is becoming more and more popular around the world, and so restaurants and shops are making sure that there are plenty of options suitable for those who have chosen this way of life. PETA has taken into account both restaurants and malls that are vegan or vegan-friendly and details them all in its latest list.

The title of most vegan-friendly city in the US goes to San Francisco, California. “No matter what neighbourhood you find yourself in,” says PETA to describe it, “you’ll discover you’re likely no more than a few steps away from an animal-friendly place to eat”. The city’s vegan options start right at San Francisco International Airport, and the all-vegan elementary school MUSE Global founded by James and Suzy Cameron is scheduled to open right in the Bay Area around September 2020.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, second place went to another Californian city - Los Angeles, which has “whatever you crave”. And that’s exactly why vegan celebrities like Jessica Chastain, Will.I.Am and Daryl Hannah love spending time in the City of Angels. New York City completes the podium and appears in the third spot of the list. “It’s a good thing the Big Apple is the city that never sleeps,” writes PETA in its description of NYC. “If it did there’d hardly be time to indulge in the wall-to-wall vegan goodness”. Starting from the next school year, New York City will also implement the Meatless Monday initiative in all its public schools.

There are also three cities appearing on the list for the first time - Orlando in sixth place, Dallas in seventh and Tulsa in tenth. All of them offer great restaurant options, like all the other cities in the top ten, but perhaps the quirkiest thing you can do is getting inked at the world’s first vegan mini-mall in city number four, Portland.
