A new airplane painted to look like a shark is so attention-grabbing that it’s distracted from one its most interesting interior features - no middle seats.
Brazilian plane manufacturer Embraer has been showing off a new aircraft with an incredible shark livery. The Embraer E190-E2 demo aircraft has been on a tour around the world, most recently stopping at airports around China, after being in the US, Africa, Europe and more. The show-stopping plane - nicknamed the Profit Hunter - has long been on this promotional tour, but its unique paint job is once again grabbing attention.
Embraer describes the plane as “the world’s quietest, cleanest and most efficient new generation single-aisle aircraft”. According to CNN Travel, the plane is a competitor with the Airbus A220, which is perhaps why the eye-catching look is so important to its world tour. But while the manufacturer is currently hoping to catch the eyes of airlines looking for new fleets, the E190-E2 is already in use by the Norwegian regional airline Widerøe since April of this year.
Embraer has unveiled a number of the planes with striking liveries - including tigers and eagles - as it promotes its planes to carriers around the world. While they are certainly attention-grabbing, there are other features that might pique the interest of passengers much more than a fancy paint job. The planes feature a two-by-two seat layout - which means there are no middle seats. Without them, the company says that passengers have a more enjoyable flight experience with more legroom and luggage storage space.
