London's most Instagrammable restaurant is providing guests with a new picture-perfect background as it's transformed into a colourful floral oasis.
The marshmallow pink furniture, art deco curves and David Shrigley artwork are striking enough but Sketch has added even more eye-catching features to its colourful Mayfair restaurant. To celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show, currently underway in London, six floral installations are on display at 9 Conduit Street. Boldy whimsical and enchanting, the temporary floral exhibition is to the public daily, offering an unexpected oasis in the heart of London.
One of the most striking displays is Belgian florist Thierry Boutemy's installation in the Champagne Salon. Known as The Glade, Boutemy's floral design looks like a fairytale forest, complete with grass-like carpet and a giant draping tree made from meadow wildflowers. Another standout installation is the stained glass window display in the reception, made entirely from pressed flowers and foliage and designed by local florist JamJar. While in Sketch's Lecture Room and Library, florist Ricky Paul's seven-metre tall, hot air balloon sculpture takes centre stage.
It's the fourth year the Mayfair Flower Show is being held at Sketch, coinciding with the Chelsea Flower Show - Britain's largest flower exhibition. Guests to Sketch can even splash out on the Mayfair Flower Show afternoon tea that includes a poppy and redcurrant eclair, raspberry and hibiscus flower chocolate cake, elderflower and lemon tart, a rose religieuse and violet and raspberry choux. It costs £68 ($86) per person and a glass of Pommery Brut Silver Champagne can be added for extra.
