The many different travel restrictions across the world have resulted in some confusion over what is and isn’t deemed essential. As hard borders are introduced interstate in Western Australia, one child has asked the local government a very important question: what does this mean for the Easter Bunny?
Perth Now reports that nine-year-old Taylah, from Thornlie near Perth, wrote an email to Mark McGowan, the Premier of Western Australia, to ask: “Will the Easter Bunny be able to come to Western Australia this year? I heard that Mr Morrison has said no one can come into Australia because of COVID-19 and Easter Island is a foreign country.
“Please put this on the news when you have an answer, I really wish the Easter Bunny can come because I really like Easter and Easter egg hunts.”
Seizing the opportunity to provide a sense of normalcy for the children of Western Australia, and bring a smile to people’s faces, Premier McGowan responded officially: “We’ve been working really hard and I am very happy to announce, I’ve just signed a special eggs-emption for the Easter Bunny. This means the Easter Bunny can still come to WA and visit all our family and friends next weekend.
“We all know how important that is. Happy Easter from me, and as always, make sure you listen to your parents and don’t eat too much chocolate.”

Travel to Australia is currently extremely limited, with only citizens, permanent residents, and now the Easter Bunny allowed to enter the country.
