With Easter just around the corner, one hotel has made sure to add a bit of “wow” to their seasonal celebrations. Fairmount Dubai has created a gigantic chocolate egg that now sits in the hotel’s atrium. Dubbed “Dubai’s biggest chocolate egg”, it was made by the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, French-national Romain Castet. The one-of-a-kind egg is made from 80 kilograms of 55% dark chocolate and stands at 2.5 metres-tall.

It took the hotel’s engineering and culinary team four weeks to handcraft the incredible egg for the lobby ahead of the Easter celebrations and was finalised just hours before the chocolate masterpiece was shown to the public. “We are very proud to have successfully completed this spectacular project,” Chef Romain Castet said. “Constructing the egg wasn’t easy due to its enormous size, but it is definitely one of the most Instagrammable lobby centrepieces our guests have ever seen.”

Dubai is well known for its luxurious treats and events.

Though mouth-watering to look at, no one will be tucking into this egg that contains a little over 436,000 calories! “As the lifespan of the chocolate covering the giant egg (due to the weather that’s getting warmer and warmer a day after a day) is not over a month, we will just dispose the egg when it gets removed from the lobby,” Terje Abrams, Public Relations Manager at Fairmont Dubai told Lonely Planet. “It’s purely for health and safety reasons”. The luxurious Easter egg will be on display at Fairmont Dubai from 18 March – 8 April. This isn’t the first time that Fairmont Dubai was in the news, earlier this year the luxury hotel made waves when it announced the world’s most expensive Valentine’s day package.
