Clifton Heritage National Park

National Park in New Providence

Only narrowly saved from the developers' bulldozers in 2000, this coastal site bears witness to the whole spectrum of human habitation in the Bahamas. Comprising coppice wood, wetlands, beaches, Loyalist and slave-era remains, a replica Lucayan hut and an underwater sculpture garden centered on a giant underwater Atlas, the park is great for birdwatching, history buffing, picnicking, swimming or just dallying. Snorkeling here costs BS$20 (or BS$40 if you need to hire gear) and tours are BS$10/5 for adults/kids.
