Until this mean little bean brewer took control in Wallaroo, the cafe scene here was mired somewhere around 1990. But Smelter smells entirely of the new century, with big breakfasts, wonderful salads, steak sandwiches and proper coffee. Hard blues on the stereo; rusty industrial signage. Open early if you have to hit highway.
