Citadel Dehseif

Southeastern Iran

Less than a kilometre north of Shafiabad, Dehseif's mud-walled 'caravanserai' is actually a mud-walled citadel, with shattered remnants of many former buildings surviving within atmospherically crumbling earthen walls. The nearby adobe houses are similarly fascinating for their rustic simplicity.
