Cardamom Tented Camp

Top choice in South Coast

Nestled deep in Botum Sakor National Park on the banks of the wildlife-laden Prek Tachan River, Cardamom Tented Camp is both a model ecotourism success story and one of the most unique and enchanting overnight stays you'll find anywhere. Luxurious safari tents allow guests to live in style while participating in real conservation activities like forest patrols and tree planting.

Trekking and kayaking trips are de rigueur, offering the chance to spot pileated gibbons, river otters, and countless species of bird. More elusive critters in the vicinity include the sunda pangolin, the Bengal slow loris and the fishing cat.

The camp is located within a Wildlife Alliance concession comprising about 10% of Botum Sakor National Park, about half of which has been developed after being sold off to business interests. The project represents a milestone in the struggle of Wildlife Alliance and other conservation groups to save Cambodia's wild spaces from extinction. Here you'll feel every bit like you are making a positive contribution to that struggle.

There's a two-night minimum stay at the camp and all meals are included in the price. A state-of-the-art solar-power system supplies most of the electricity. The boat ride here from Trapaeng Rung takes about one hour and gets progressively more beautiful the deeper you get into the park. Trapaeng Rung is 40km southeast of Tatai on the NH48,
