Huembo Lodge

Northern Highlands

One of two lodges run by Peru's Association of Andean Ecosystems (ECOAN), the Huembo is smaller and a little more modest (and cheaper) than its sister Owlet Lodge. The bird-watching here, particularly for hummingbirds, is first-class. There's a restaurant and eight perfectly adequate rooms, two of which share a bathroom.

Room rates include admission to the Abra Patricia-Alto Nieva Private Conservation Area.
