Doon Estate

Harare

A few kilometres east of town, Doon Estate is known for its galleries, cafes and souvenir shops. Sadly these days it's a shadow of its former self (many places have closed due to soaring rents), so it's no longer the buzzing complex it once was. Regardless, it's definitely still worth a visit – especially as it's an initiative that relies on tourists.

It remains one of Harare's best spots for souvenirs, Shona sculpture, pop-up events, cafes (including Veldemeers chocolatier) and an authentic new pizzeria, Little Eataly that looks the goods.

Aim to visit during the week, as a lot of the cafes close over the weekend. It's located off the Mutare Rd.
