Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market

Aberdeen & South Hong Kong Island

On the western end of Aberdeen Promenade is the sprawling Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market, with its industrial-strength water tanks teeming with marine life. Pungent and grimy, it's Hong Kong's largest and longest-running fish market. It's busiest before sunrise, at around 4am, when the fish arrive and are whisked away on trucks with oxygenated tanks to restaurants and markets all over Hong Kong.

In a city so particular about the freshness of its seafood, keeping the creatures alive is of paramount importance.
