World Peace Gate

Gangnam & Southern Seoul

Standing at the main entrance to Olympic Park is the colossal World Peace Gate, with its striking winged arches designed by Kim Jung-up for the 1988 Olympics as the centrepiece of the large Peace Plaza. The underside features a mural showing the guardians of the gate – a dragon, a phoenix, a tiger and a turtle. In the centre is an eternal flame alongside a declaration for world peace.
