Most gorgeously situated camp in all of Mongolia? We may have a winner. It's nestled in the groove of a steep valley overlooking Üüreg Nuur, some 20km away, with nothing but rolling steppe in between. There's a dozen or so stylishly decorated gers and nine log cabins, a toilet and shower block, and a well-equipped restaurant with bar.
Operated by the UB-based OT Tour, the camp is aimed at international travellers and tour groups, with prices to match.
We love the gers' orange rugs and bedspreads; outside, a series of totem poles represent the 21 Hunnu tribes. Veggies for salads are grown here.
Above camp is pristine alpine forest, just begging to be explored by horse (T20,000 per day) or by foot. Türgen Uul is a day's trek away to the south.
