The oldest resort on the island is also the classiest: Southern Cross is a gorgeous boutique operation with an eco-conscious approach. There are 14 pastel-colored bungalows, most with private porches and outdoor showers, and all with glorious views of the sea and nearby Owen Island. Meals are excellent and the service is impeccable.

While diving is the main draw, kitesurfing instruction and fishing are also on offer. Bicycles, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkeling gear are complimentary, and there are a refreshing pool and a bubbling hot tub.
