Folger Theatre

Washington, DC

The 270-seat, Renaissance-style theater attached to the Folger Shakespeare Library stages classic and modern interpretations of the bard's plays, as well as new works inspired by Shakespeare. Literary readings (including the PEN/Faulkner series) and great programs for children are also part of the venue's repertoire.

With its three-tiered wooden balconies, half-timbered facade and sky canopy, the theater evokes an inn courtyard, where troupes often staged plays in Shakespeare's day. Be aware that some seats are partial view.
